Aluminum oxide powder price is an industrially important material used in ceramics, surface protection layer materials, inorganic and organic aluminium chemicals, catalysts, abrasive ceramics and as an additive to concrete mixtures. It also has many tribological applications and is found in products such as ceramic tiles for transport channels and chutes, grinding wheels for metal cutting tools, textile industry thread guides and hip joint studs in endoprosthetics.

Alumina is derived from the natural mineral bauxite which contains aluminium hydroxide minerals such as gibbsite (Al(OH)3), boehmite (?-AlO(OH)) and diaspore (a-AlO(OH)) along with iron oxides, quartz and clay minerals. It is produced by calcining and pulverising high-purity bauxite ore and is available as white fused, brown fused and ground alumina.

The crystalline alumina is used to produce various types of refractory and ceramics, and its finer grained forms are utilized in coating and ink formulations and bonded and coated abrasives, such as dry and wet blasting sands. In addition to being non-toxic, alumina is chemically inert, has good thermal stability, and high mechanical and electrical properties. It is also capable of reducing the sintering temperature and improving the density of ceramics.

The aluminium oxide powder has a Mohs hardness of 9 and is extremely corrosion resistant due to the formation of an aluminium oxide film on its surfaces when stored in air. This naturally occurring coating can be enhanced by anodizing, where the alumina is electrolytically applied to the surface of the aluminium, providing it with a hard, wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant protective layer.
