Aluminium oxide, also known as alumina or aloxite, is a hard, durable, long-lasting blasting medium that can be recycled and reused. It is a popular choice for many applications including etching, surface preparation, and matt finishing as well as cleaning and preparing components for plasma deposition, metallising, welding and coating applications.
It is a low iron content abrasive which means it will not leave rust on your metal. This makes it a good choice for removing rust and mill scale as well as failing paints. It can be used for both dry and wet blasting processes, resulting in an overall smoother surface finish.
This blasting media is very cost effective compared to other types of media. This is largely due to the fact that it can be re-used over and over again. It also doesn't create as much dust as other abrasives, which helps to reduce airborne contamination levels within your facility.
Angular and durable, this blasting media is the most widely used abrasive grain in general blasting and surface preparation. It's cheaper, longer-lasting, and harder than other commonly used blasting materials such as sand. It's fast-cutting action minimizes damage to thin materials and is perfect for surface preparation and blast finishing of critical aerospace components.
It works great with all abrasive blast cabinets and pressurized abrasive blasters. It comes in a poly bucket and is ready to use straight out of the container. Just remember to wear your protective equipment and safety gear as this is a hazardous material if inhaled.
